Action: The commissioners agreed to seek bids for fences at Thompson Hill, Cross Creek and Ten Mike parks, plus better gates to the Cross Creek boat launches.

Members of the board adopted a resolution designating the chairman as the person who is authorized to sign any agreements with the state’s Bureau of Aviation.

Attorney Frank Magone was retained as an attorney in domestic relations office at a cost of $2,083 per month for next year. He represents the state Department of Human Services, plaintiffs who receive cash assistance, live outside Washington County and out of state.

The board also approved a professional services contract with attorney Robert Grimm to provide legal services to the county for employment-related cases, include those dealing with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the state Human Relations Act, civil rights matters and unemployment compensation claims. Rates for next year remain the same: attorney, $125 per hour; associate attorney, $110 per hour and paralegal, $60 per hour. Also at the request of the Human Resources Department, the board approved a contract with attorney Carl Smith for unemployment compensation claims. The rate increase calls for a partner attorney to be paid $175 per hour, associate attorney $145 per hour and paralegal, $85 per hour.

At the request of the Human Services Department, the commissioners accepted $485,581 to provide housing and supportive services to homeless individuals and families.

At the request of the Public Safety Department, the board approved an agreement with Atlantic Nitrogen Holdings Inc. to park trucks at their facility at a cost of $1,500 per month to be paid from the department’s operating budget effective immediately through Nov. 30, 2015.

The commissioners ratified the purchase of remote connectivity video conferencing equipment for $20,127 from Audio Visual Innovations Inc. in Judge Michael Lucas’ courtroom through a state contract that does not require bidding.

Appointments: Washington County Authority board, John Artuso and Bill Stein, replacing Bill Burt and Scott Frederick, respectively, whose terms expire Jan. 1, and Conservation District Board, Larry Maggi, William Iams and John Hunter were reappointed.

Next meeting: 10 a.m. Dec. 18 in the public meeting room of the Courthouse Square office building.
