Police beat Dec. 20
Two charged: Earl O. Gorby, 71, of 619 Best Ave., Canton, and Crystal Montano. 32, of Washington, were taken into custody Friday morning by state police. Police were attempting to pick up Montano on a bench warrant, but Gorby allegedly hid her in a closet at his home. She was placed in Washington County jail on the warrant. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on a charge of hindering apprehension and placed in jail on $1,000 bond.
Unauthorized use charge: William Sarasnick, 18, of 560 Broad St., Washington, was charged by state police with unauthorized use of a vehicle, criminal mischief, driving with a suspended license, careless driving, trespass by motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a crash. He is accused of taking a vehicle owned by Deborah Spangler without permission and getting it stuck in a yard at 16 Edgewood Ave. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Criminal mischief: Shane Danyo of Muse-Bishop Road, Cecil, reported to Cecil Township police two eggs were thrown at his car while it was parked at the Subway restaurant on Millers Run Road Dec. 17.
False application: Edward J. Smith, 49, of 1167 Logan Road, Bethel Park, was charged by Chartiers police with making a false statement on a firearm application and improper transfer of a firearm when he reportedly tried to purchase a weapon at a gun sale Sept. 21 at Washington County Fairgrounds. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Driver charged: Brandon M. Kleinhans, 25, of 297 Old Post Road, Washington, was charged by North Franklin police with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid and a red light violation stemming from a hit-and-run crash Thursday at the intersection of Park Avenue and Franklin Farms Road. He is accused of backing into a vehicle driven by Janet Wright of West Finley while they were at the traffic signal. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Identity theft: Michelle Wright of Scenic Drive told North Franklin police Monday her personal information was used to open two Verizon accounts, including one at an office in Philadelphia.
Threats, endangerment charges: Clarence E. Shrader, 64, of 700 Franklin Farms Road, North Franklin Township, was charged this week by state police with terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct after he allegedly waved an Airsoft pistol at an off-duty trooper. The trooper, who was in his personal vehicle, was attempting to turn left from the Interstate 79 northbound ramp onto Route 519, North Strabane, on Nov. 30. Shrader, who was behind the trooper, allegedly started making obscene gestures and honking the horn. The trooper got out of his vehicle, and Shrader allegedly showed the pistol. The trooper identified himself as a police officer. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Car stolen: A 2011 white KIA Sorrento SUV was reported stolen from South Hills Kia on Washington Road Dec. 18, police said.
Hit-and-run crash: State police are looking for a white, 2003-2005 Dodge or Chrsyler Neon involved in a hit-and-run crash about 5:30 a.m. Friday on the Southern Beltway near the Route 22 westbound off ramp, Robinson. State police said the driver of the Neon failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a vehicle driven by Robert Hawkins, 57, of Weirton, W.Va. Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Robert Lulkovitz at 412-787-2000.
Drug arrest: Brian Still, 29, of 130 E. Katherine Ave., Washington, was arrested Thursday by Washington police on charges of possession of heroin and marijuana and having a prohibited offensive weapon stemming from a traffic stop on Jefferson Avenue. Police said he had two bundles of suspected heroin and a stun gun. He was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond.
Loitering, disorderly charges: Samuel Martin, 31, of Johnstown, was arrested Thursday night by Washington police after he reportedly was banging on windows of homes and creating a disturbance in the 700 block of Ewing Street. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of loitering and prowling at night, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was placed in Washington County jail on $2,500 bond.
Car stolen: Stephanie Grayson of 45 Shaw Ave. told Washington police Thursday her white, 2012 Ford Fusion was stolen from outside her home. She told police she started it to warm it up, and when she went back outside it was gone. The license plate is JHT-4267.
