Libraries to offer free music downloads
Beginning next month, public library users in Greene County will be able to download and stream music by using their library card.
The Greene County Library System joined Library Ideas network to offer access to more than 3 million songs including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists.
The Freegal Music Service will allow the Eva K. Bowlby Public Library and Flenniken Public Library to increase the size and diversity of their collections by offering access to more than 10,000 music labels from 65 different countries.
Registered library card holders can download three Freegal Music tracks in the MP3 format each week at no cost. These MP3s do not expire and are yours to keep after downloading. Library card holders will also be allowed three hours of streaming music per day.
The Freegal Music Service recently announced the availability of free mobile apps for registered cardholders of subscribing libraries. The Freegal Music apps are available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
