1 min read

BENSALEM (AP) – Police said a resident shot and critically wounded a burglar who touched himself inappropriately and stole a dog at a suburban Philadelphia apartment complex.

Bensalem police say the resident opened fire as the suspect attempted to break into a first-floor apartment Sunday night at Franklin Commons on Bobolink Drive.

The suspect, believed to be in his early 20s, was wounded twice. He’s in critical condition at Aria-Torresdale Hospital. Police didn’t release his name.

Police say the suspect first climbed onto a second-floor balcony and started touching himself before being confronted by a woman who lived in the adjoining apartment.

They say he broke in and stole the woman’s dog before jumping off the balcony and targeting the first floor apartment.

Police say they don’t expect to charge the shooter.
