Police beat Dec. 30
Tools stolen: About $1,000 in tools were reported missing Dec. 27 from the Saga Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar that is under construction at Southpointe Town Center.
Burglary report: A residence in the 40 block of Dawson Road in the borough’s Denbo section was broken into between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday, state police said.
Crack cocaine possession charge: Charleroi Area police said they charged Donna Vargo, 50, of 641 Green St., Belle Vernon, with drug possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after she was found with crack cocaine during a traffic stop in the 1300 block of McKean Avenue Oct. 14.
Assault charge: Chartiers Township police said they charged Eric Farnham, 51, of 539 Birch Road, Chartiers, with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly assaulted his wife in their home shortly before midnight Friday. Farnham was arraigned by District Judge Gary Havelka and taken to Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Driver injured in crash: State police said Evan P. Minahan was speeding when he crashed into a concrete barrier on Interstate 70 in Fallowfield Township about 4:30 a.m. Sunday. Minahan, 23, of Pittsburgh, was taken to Mon Valley Hospital with unspecified injuries following the crash.
Drug charge: Justin D. Key, 25, of 426 Main St., New Eagle, was charged by Monongahela police with possession with intent to deliver after he allegedly was found with heroin about 3:30 p.m. Friday. Key was arraigned by District Judge Gary Havelka and taken to Washington County jail on $20,000 bond.
Man accused of stalking ex-girlfriend: Eric Weaver, 30, of 38 Moyer Ave., Charleroi, was arrested early Monday morning after Charleroi Area police, who said he was found banging on the window of his ex-girlfriend’s North Charleroi apartment. Police said they charged Weaver with stalking, disorderly conduct, prowling, public drunkenness and harassment after he was found in the 700 block of Conrad Avenue about 3:20 a.m. Weaver was arraigned by District Judge Gary Havelka and taken to Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Drug charge: State police charged a former Washington man with multiple drug offenses after troopers said they found him with marijuana, heroin and prescription drugs in a Peters Township home where he was staying. Police said they found Chad S. Smith, 25, with the drugs and more than $29,000 in his bedroom at a home on East McMurray Road about 1:45 a.m. Sunday. Police charged Smith with drug possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia, and he was taken to Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Burglary: Police are investigating the theft of $20,000 in jewelry from a Circle Drive home in the McGran Hills section of the township.
Truck stolen: Charles Hull, 26, of 505 Railroad St., Stockdale, was charged by Roscoe-Elco-Stockdale-Allenport Regional police with criminal conspiracy, theft and false reports after he allegedly stole a pickup truck Dec. 19.
Single-car crash: Deidre Sloss, 55, of Monongahela suffered a minor injury about 9 p.m. Thursday when she was driving in the 6800 block of Route 88 in Union Township and swerved to avoid a deer before crashing into a utility pole, Southwest Regional police said.
Charged with fleeing police: Brandon R. Allen, 23, of 262 E. Hallam Ave., Washington, was charged with driving under the influence, fleeing police and prohibited acts after city police said he ran from his car during a traffic stop in the 10 block of North Main Street about 2:45 a.m. Sunday. District Judge Gary Havelka arraigned Allen, and he was taken to Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Assault charge: Wilco L. McClain, 20, of 485 N. Franklin St., Washington, was charged with simple assault, harassment and stalking after city police said he fought a woman in the 10 block of Braden Street shortly after noon Saturday. He also was charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly showing up at her workplace at the 7-Eleven on West Chestnut Street earlier that morning and punching her in the face. Police said he was upset because he had to watch their child while she worked. McClain was arraigned by District Judge Gary Havelka and taken to Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Hit-and-run charges: Brandon Michael Kleinhans, 25, of 297 Old Post Road, Washington, was charged by North Franklin police with causing an accident involving damage, failure to use traffic signals and failure to give information and render aid stemming from a two-vehicle accident Dec. 18 at the intersection of Park Avenue and Franklin Farms Road. Police said Kleinhans struck another vehicle and drove away but eventually pulled over and asked the other driver not to call police. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Drug charges: Justin Michael Miller, 27, of 565 Pleasant Valley Road, Washington, faces 13 counts of prohibited acts for allegedly having in his vehicle a metal spoon with residue on it, two unused needles, eight empty stamp bags, one shoelace and two Suboxone packets prescribed to another person while parked outside Washington Crown Center mall Dec. 20. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Vandalism: A man reported to city police Saturday the glass was broken out of the door to his West Chestnut Street residence.
Theft: A woman reported to city police a front porch gate at her residence on Wilson Avenue, which was keeping her dog on the porch, was broken. She told police a collar and leash were stolen, and other items were broken. Her dog was found about a mile away at the Uni-Mart.
Harassment charge: Andrew Hampe, 27, of 910 E. Maiden St., was charged by city police with harassment for allegedly punching a woman Saturday at his residence during an argument over cleaning. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
