WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg attorney David J. Russo has announced he will be a candidate for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Greene County in the 2015 spring primary.

A seat on the court becomes vacant with the mandatory retirement of Judge William Nalitz at the end of this year.

Russo graduated from Slippery Rock University with a bachelor’s of science degree in environmental safety, and he worked as a safety manager for a local prosthetics company. He earned his law degree at Ohio Northern University in 2004 and passed the bar exam in July 2004.

Shortly thereafter Russo opened his law office on High Street in Waynesburg and has been a general practitioner for more than a decade. He specializes as a trial attorney in both civil and criminal litigation. Russo’s practice provides services in several other areas of law, including wills and estates, divorce and custody, contract litigation, oil and gas leasing, adoption cases and CYS issues. Russo, his wife Jana and their five children, live on a farm in the West Greene area. “I have experience as a prosecutor and a defense attorney as well as practicing several areas of law. I believe my diversified background and current practice make me well qualified to serve as the Common Pleas Judge of Greene County.”

Earlier, Magisterial District Judge Lou Dayich announced his intention to run for the seat on the bench.

Candidates for the open judicial seat are permitted to cross-file.
