Area mother faces multiple charges
A McDonald mother was arrested Friday night by borough police after she allegedly assaulted her husband and also tried to remove her children from their home.
Lindsey J. Longstreth, 32, of 420 W. Lincoln Ave., was charged by McDonald police with simple assault, endangering the welfare of children and harassment.
Police were called to her home about 6:30 p.m. for a report of a domestic dispute. When police arrived, they said she was sitting near the bottom of the stairway pulling the hair of her husband, Justin Longstreth. Police said she was ordered to stop but continued until she was pulled away. She then allegedly shoved her husband in the chest and kicked him.
Justin Longstreth told police that he believed his wife had consumed alcohol even though she is taking medication to prevent her from drinking.
The two got into an argument that turned physical. Her husband told police that at one point she tried to remove their two daughters, ages 4 and 6, from the home.
Longstreth allegedly started throwing items at her husband, including several chairs and a stool. She also reportedly broke his necklace, police said.
Police found his broken necklace on the floor, along with overturned chairs and a stool. Justin Longstreth’s shirt had been ripped open, and he had scratches on his chest and a lump on his arm.
Lindsey Longstreth was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson and released from Washington County jail Saturday morning after posting $5,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 12 at the office of Senior District Judge Jay Dutton.
