Cecil supervisors approve construction

1 min read

Cecil Township supervisors Monday approved two applications from Cecil-based Crown Castle USA Inc. that call for the cell tower company to consolidate its building with the former Mylan Inc. headquarters building on Corporate Drive in Southpointe, and to build a covered walkway to connect the buildings.

Representatives from Crown Castle outlined plans to integrate the buildings into a corporate campus, consolidating the Crown Castle and Mylan parcels into a 41-acre lot.

The campus is to include a plaza and a walking trail, and the Mylan parking lot will be redesigned.

Crown Castle also addressed its stormwater management plan and other issues that township engineer Gateway Engineers had requested at a December meeting.

Crown Castle employs about 700.

In other business, supervisors:

• Set a meeting Tuesday to discuss a five-year plan for street repairs submitted by Gateway Engineers.

• Approved a design concept submitted by Gateway for the construction of the connecting trail from the Montour Trail through Klinger Park to Reserve Drive. The board plans to use about $20,000 from the Washington County Authority as it becomes available to pay for the construction. Director Elizabeth Cowden opposed the motion.

• Did not approve a motion to appoint Supervisor Frank Ludwin as roadmaster for 2014.
