Police beat Feb. 7
Assault arrest: Marc R. Lariviere Jr., 32, of 3093 Jefferson Ave., Canton, was arrested Wednesday by state police for allegedly assaulting his wife, Diane Lariviere, at their home. He reportedly slapped and pushed her to the ground. She suffered two black eyes and a bruised chin in the fall. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in Washington County jail on $2,500 bond.
Theft charge: Eric T. Boyer, 24, of Hanover, was arraigned on a theft charge by District Judge Gary Havelka after state police said he stole a generator from a Reed Lane home in Hanover Township in May and sold it for $100 at a pawn shop in Weirton, W.Va.
DUI charge: William J. Harvey, 75, of Scenery Hill, faces a charged of driving under the influence of alcohol after his vehicle got stuck in the snow Monday afternoon in the front yard at 79 Hickory Road, Somerset, state police said. When the trooper arrived, he determined Harvey was under the influence of alcohol. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson.
Retail theft arrest: Dmytra Nekrasa, 29, of Carnegie, was arrested Wednesday by South Strabane police for retail theft after he allegedly stole four electronic items valued at $400 from Target, Strabane Square. Store security told police he was seen removing security wires from the items. Security also told police Nekrasa is suspected of stealing items from the store in the past. He was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and placed in Washington County jail on a $25,000 percentage bond.
Theft, drug charges: Laura A. Serafini, 42, of Weirton, W.Va., was charged Tuesday by South Strabane police with retail theft, possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. Police said security at Walmart, Trinity Point, told them she had scanned two items at the self-checkout and did not pay for five items valued at $255. Police also found her with eight stamp bags of suspected heroin and syringes. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Simple assault charge: Raymond T. Lewis, 42, of 836 ½ Duncan Ave., Washington, was charged with simple assault and harassment after state police said he allegedly threatened his live-in girlfriend at their home and threw her against a wall about 7 a.m. Sunday. He was arraigned by District Judge Robert Redlinger on Thursday and taken to Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Drug charges: Christina Gatten, 32, of 221 S. College St., Washington, faces charges of drug possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after city police said they found her with marijuana during a Jan. 28 traffic stop at Hart Avenue and West Chestnut Street. She was taken to Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Delivery driver assaulted: Donald Bell of Cross Creek Township, an Observer-Reporter delivery driver, told Washington police a man punched him in the face five times after he had dropped off papers at a machine outside Tower Restaurant at 68 W. Chestnut St. shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday. Police are still searching for a suspect.
