1 min read

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Florence Lombardi Merow, a former state Delegate and former Morgantown mayor, has died. She was 91.

Hastings Funeral Home in Morgantown said Merow died Saturday at her home.

She also was a former Morgantown City Council member and a Monongalia County commissioner.

Former City Council member Frank Scafella told The Dominion Post Merow was ahead of her time in many ways.

Scafella said Merow knew the Monongahela River was a valuable asset in the 1980s but few shared her vision. He said a riverfront design she presented then is strikingly similar to today’s riverfront.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
