New teams sought for Relay for Life
The Greene County 4-H Team has been participating in Greene County Relay For Life since 2001, the longest standing uninterrupted youth team in the history of the event. The team raised several thousand dollars to date and reached the Gold Level already for this year’s Relay, which is over $5,000.
Organizers are looking for new teams to join this year’s Relay and the next committee meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Waynesburg Central High School library to get more information about getting involved and starting a new team.
Over the last 15 years, Relay for Life of Greene County raised more than $1.7 million to fund cancer research and patient services. At Relay For Life of Greene County, teams camp out overnight and take turns walking 24 hours around the track. The theme this year is a Relay carnival, “Raise The Big Top.” There will be games and entertainment.
