Venetia man arrested in alleged road rage incident
A Venetia man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he allegedly threatened another driver with a baseball bat.
Michael C. Castriota, 23, of 342 Snowberry Circle, is accused of threatening an Eighty Four man as they drove on Bebout Road near Valleybrook Road, Peters Township police said.
The alleged victim called police about 2:25 p.m. to report that the other driver, later identified as Castriota, was tailgating his vehicle. Castriota also reportedly passed the other man’s vehicle, then slammed on his brakes. He also allegedly menaced the other driver with a baseball bat and threatened to kill the Eighty Four man.
The alleged victim told police that Castriota was driving a BMW sedan. Police spotted a vehicle matching the description and stopped it. A black aluminum bat was found inside the BMW. Castriota allegedly admitted to township police that he threatened to kill the other driver.
Castriota was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis on charges of terroristic threats and possessing instruments of a crime. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for March 7 before District Judge James Ellis.
