1 min read

A Marianna man missing since Sunday was found dead Monday morning in Ten Mile Creek, state police said.

Richard H. Lawry Jr., 25, of 2007 Beallsville-Marianna Road had been reported missing to state police about 11 p.m. Sunday.

He left his home at 2 a.m. Sunday to return a motorcycle to the owner who lives a short distance away from Lawry’s home.

Family members and Marianna firefighters had been searching for him.

A state police helicopter that joined the search flew over the area about 9:30 a.m. Monday and spotted the motorcycle over an embankment near the creek off the 1700 block of Main Street, less than a half-mile from Beallsville-Marianna Road in West Bethlehem Township.

Lawry’s body was found almost a mile downstream from the crash scene.

Lawry was pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County Coroner Tim Warco.

State police said Lawry suffered head injuries, but the cause and manner of death are pending the results of an autopsy.

His death remains under investigation by state police.
