WAYNESBURG – Greene County commissioners announced Thursday that the Recreational Development Grant application period is now open and municipalities and organizations are urged to apply.

Commissioner Chuck Morris said, “We want to make sure the March 1 deadline is not missed. The maximum grant amount is $3,000 and we have about $21,000 to $24,000 set aside.”

Jake Blaker, director of the county’s department of recreation, said organizations such as King Coal Association, Wana B Park, Wind Ridge Sportsman Club and other organizations have benefitted from these grants.

“I agree with the commissioners. If the money is available, then these groups should go after it,” Blaker said.
