NEMACOLIN – A Cumberland Township man was charged with simple assault and endangering the welfare of children for allegedly hitting the 4-and 6-year-old children of his girlfriend.

Seth M. A. Lilley, 21, of 415 Sherman, Nemacolin was arrested June 9 after Cumberland Township Police officers responded to a domestic dispute call at 390 Grant Street, Nemacolin.

Officer Mandy Mudrick said she spoke with Lilley’s girlfriend, Tiffany Hathaway, who told Mudrick Lilley threatened her and physically abused her but she was not injured. At some point during the incident, Lilley allegedly struck two of Hathaway’s three children, according to a criminal complaint filed before Greene County Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson.

Mudrick said the 6-year-old child told officers Lilley had struck him “hard” on the buttocks while he was sleeping and Greene County Children and Youth Services caseworker Jamie Imhoff concluded Hathaway’s 3-year-old daughter also had been struck across her buttocks.

Lilley is also charged with a summary violation for disorderly conduct.

He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Watson at 3 p.m. Aug. 6.
