A 20-year-old Canonsburg woman was injured Monday afternoon when her Jeep sport-utility vehicle crashed into a guardrail and rolled into a stream along Route 19 near Fulton Road in North Strabane Township.

The woman, whose name was not immediately released, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be removed and pulled up an embankment on a stretcher by North Strabane firefighters.

The woman was expected to be flown to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment. Police said her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The crash, which occurred about 1:20 p.m., snarled northbound traffic on Route 19 as crews worked to pull the woman’s overturned vehicle from the creek.
