Heavy storms cause flooding, downed trees throughout county

1 min read

Heavy storms pushed through Washington County Sunday, causing numerous road closures as trees and power lines fell.

On Interstate 79 south near the Southpointe exit, a tree hit a vehicle. No injuries were reported and lanes were quickly cleared.

Shortly before 7 p.m., a supervisor with 911 reported all of the downed trees and power lines were either cleared or being addressed.

In Houston, flooding was reported along Pike Street. The road was partially covered by water, making it difficult for vehicles to travel.

Numerous homes throughout the county also experienced flooding as heavy rains began to fall around 5:30 p.m.
