WVU delays opening of housing complex
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) – West Virginia University has delayed the opening of a new $70 million student housing complex.
University officials had expected the University Place complex to be ready in time for the student move-in on Aug. 15. The fall semester begins Aug. 18.
Dean of students and director of housing Corey Farris tells media outlets that harsh winter weather caused construction delays. He says the building likely won’t be ready for several months.
The university has offered temporary housing locations to students who signed a lease at the complex.
The complex’s building can house up to 980 students. It also will have retail space on the first floor.
