Jefferson Ave. construction causing delays
Construction to repair a large box culvert and sewer line below Jefferson and Wylie avenues in Washington is expected to continue until Wednesday.
The replacement of the 6-by-6-foot culvert and storm runoff pipelines along both sides of Wylie Avenue began Monday after heavy rain July 13 flooded the problematic intersection, city Councilman Ken Westcott said.
He added crews are removing an abandoned gas line in that area that also was causing problems. The project will cost the city about $30,000, Westcott said.
