North Strabane buys new police equipment

1 min read

North Strabane Township supervisors approved a request by the township’s police chief to purchase more than $60,000 worth of new equipment for the department. The supervisors agreed Tuesday night to spend $60,835 to buy new rifles, shotguns, stop sticks, computer software and office equipment. Township officials delayed making a decision on the request last month after asking police Chief Brian Hughes to supply more information on why the new equipment was needed.

The supervisors also voted to hire attorney Gary Sweat as the township’s new solicitor. Sweat replaces attorney Jim Jeffries in the position.
