W.Va. man arrested after child found in hot car

WHEELING, W.Va. – A Wheeling man faces charges he left his 18-month-old daughter in a hot car while he was asleep on a couch.

Media outlets reported 33-year-old Cory Rockhold was arrested Thursday night after police found his daughter in his car on Wheeling Island.

A criminal complaint in Ohio County Magistrate Court said the girl was drenched in sweat when she was located. Officers then went to a nearby residence and found Rockhold asleep.

Rockhold was charged with one count each of child neglect resulting in injury and one count of child neglect creating risk of injury.

He was being held in the Northern Regional Jail in Moundsville on $50,000 bond. Jail records didn’t indicate whether Rockhold has an attorney.

The child was placed with Ohio County Child Protective Services.
