Identity theft, scams seminars for senior citizens planned
State Sen. Tim Solobay, in conjunction with the attorney general’s office and the Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging, will conduct a series of seminars geared toward seniors who are concerned about the growing threat of identity theft, particularly on the Internet, as well as scams.
“As computers have become an increasingly central part of our lives, I’ve found that many residents don’t completely understand the potential downside,” Solobay said.
“A small investment of time in getting educated and taking simple steps could prevent big headaches down the road.”
Solobay said the events will feature agents from the office of state Attorney General Kathleen Kane who will go over the latest scams and schemes including those launched over the Internet.
The experts will instruct residents on steps they can take to secure their information.
For questions about the seminars, call Solobay’s district office at 724-746-3762.
