Police beat July 31
Oxygen, acetylene stolen: State police said seven oxygen and 11 acetylene bottles were reported stolen between Friday and Monday from a construction site on Hackney Station Road in Amwell Township. The equipment is owned by Mannon Pipe Line of Will Wood, Ohio.
Two face charges: Two women face charges in connection with a fight about 3 p.m. Tuesday at 1223 California Terrace, borough police said. Gloria Marie Balach, 43, of Burgettstown, and Paula Davis, 45, of California, allegedly fought. Balach then allegedly went into the yard and continued to use foul language after police told her to stop. Both women face a simple assault charge. In addition, Balach faces charges of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Balach was taken to an area hospital for treatment of facial injuries. Davis refused treatment.
Burglary: Mary Deems of 6 Birch Way, Muse, reported Tuesday that her home was entered and a large plastic jug filled with change and bills was stolen, township police said. Some change was found on the deck outside a sliding door. The burglary occurred between 7:35 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Crash leads to arrest: Stephanie L. Allen, 44, of 105 Gilmore Road, Finleyville, is charged by Monongahela police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, court records state. She is accused of having a stamp bag of heroin when she crashed her vehicle into a parked vehicle about 11:15 p.m. July 10 in the 100 block of Main Street in New Eagle, the record shows. She is free on $5,000 bond set Tuesday by District Judge Mark Wilson.
Appliances stolen: A General Electric microwave, double oven, dishwasher and cooktop were stolen from a house under construction in the Fieldcrest development between Saturday and when the theft was reported at 8:02 a.m. Monday, township police said. The owner is Dan Ryan.
Drug charge: Joshua David Ralston, 31, of 1224 Sunnybrook Road, North Franklin Township, will be charged by South Strabane police with possession of heroin and paraphernalia after he allegedly was found using the drug in his vehicle in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, Trinity Point, earlier this month. An officer was flagged down by a motorist who reported the man was using drugs in a truck. Police said they found Ralston along with stamp bags of heroin, a needle and a counterfeit $100 bill. Charges were filed Wednesday at the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Truck burns: South Strabane firefighters and police were called Tuesday to the parking lot of Trinity Point, where a pickup truck owned by Harold Wright of Paxton Street, Washington, was engulfed in flames.
Bag stolen: Kathleen Spehar of Evelyn Street, Union, told Southwest Regional police that a bag containing an Olive Garden gift card, birthday card and lottery tickets was stolen from her cart at Giant Eagle, Route 88, as she was loading groceries into her car about 4:40 p.m. Thursday.
Woman scammed: A 50-year-old woman reported that she was scammed out of $4,500 by a company called Global I.D. Solutions. The woman said she received a virus alert on her computer with a phone number to call. When she called, the company asked for a credit card number.
Burglary: A 64-year-old man reported that his residence in the 300 block of Liberty Avenue was burglarized Monday or Tuesday, and a .22-caliber revolver was stolen from his upstairs bedroom. He said nothing else appeared to be missing, but several drawers had been opened.
