DUI checkpoint nets five drivers

Fourteen drivers were detained during a driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol checkpoint conducted by the Washington County DUI Task Force between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 a.m. Sunday in front of Peters Township High School, 264 East McMurray Road.

Of the 14 drivers, five were charged with DUI, with two of those also charged with possession of marijuana. Police said 350 vehicles traveled through the checkpoint.

A passenger in one of the vehicles, Jordan Johnson, 20, of Union Avenue, McKeesport, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana after police said they found a grinder and a bowl of marijuana on his lap.

Drivers Thaddeus Piscatelli, 22, of Sycamore Drive, McMurray, and Morgan A. Doak, 22, of Ramsey Road, Washington, were charged with DUI and possession of marijuana.

Drivers William R. Grippo, 55, of Druid Drive, McMurray; Gerald Obiecunas, 54, of Royal Drive, Library; and Mark A. Otlano, 55, of Sleepy Hollow Road, Library, were all charged with DUI.

All charges will be sent by summons.

Another driver was driving on a suspended license, and another was found to be driving a vehicle with an expired inspection.
