Chartiers-Houston to graduate 70
Chartiers-Houston High School will graduate 70 seniors at its commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday at the high school.
Valedictorian is Laura Mobley, salutatorian is Christine Walsh, and the honor graduate is Haley Sutton.
Mobley is a daughter of Tony and Emma Mobley of Houston. She received the Challenge Program STEM Award and the National Buckeye Scholarship and Provost Scholarship, both from Ohio State University.
She was captain of the varsity soccer team, president of National Honor Society, the musical, Drama Club, Mathletes and Students for Exceptional Children, vice president of Catalyst Club, captain of Academic Meets, a peer leader and had the lead role in the musical.
She plans to attend Ohio State University to major in computer science with a minor in statistics.
Walsh is a daughter of David and Karen Walsh of Chartiers Township.
She was the president of Envirothon, treasurer of Students for Exceptional Children, and a member of the Leo Club, SADD, National Honor Society, marching band and the varsity volleyball and softball teams.
She plans to attend the Pennsylvania State University to major in security risk analysis.
Sutton is a daughter of Bill and Nikki Sutton of Chartiers Township. She received the Otterbein University Presidential Award, Alumni Scholarship and Housing Grant, the Washington Financial Bank Scholarship and the Army National Guard Exceptional Scholars Award. She was a finalist for The Almanac Female Athlete of the Year and a Pennsylvania Junior Science Academy Talent Search winner.
She was secretary of the senior class and the Leo Club, president of the chess club, National Honor Society historian and a member of the peer jury. She was a member of the softball team and a cheerleading captain.
Sutton plans to attend Ottberbein University to major in pre-veterinary studies with plans to become an equine veterinarian.
