Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority will flush hydrants today and Thursday in Jefferson Borough and Jefferson Township. Customers may experience a temporary drop in pressure, loss of pressure or discolored water.

will hold a free community dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday. Menu will consist of sloppy joes, potatoes, cole slaw and pudding. Takeouts are available and deliveries will be made by calling 724-428-9812.
Country music will be featured from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the New Freeport fire hall. Bands scheduled to appear are Brad Crow and the Cutups and Ambassadors for Christ. Cost is $4 and the event is sponsored by the ladies auxiliary.
An all-town yard sale will be held Saturday in Greensboro. It will be held in conjunction with the borough’s farmers’ market that runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the gazebo.
Cornerstone Genealogical Society will hold its family picnic at 6 p.m. June 10 in the barn at the Greene County Historical Society Museum on Rolling Meadows Road. There will be music, a whistling contest and prizes will be awarded. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Reservations are required by calling the Cornerstone Genealogical Society at 724-627-5653.
Greene Academy of Art, 314 North Market Street, Carmichaels, is sponsoring a number of classes this year. The first of these classes will be a one-stroke painting class for beginners from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 12, 19 and 26 at the academy. No previous artistic experience is needed and one-stroke technique is a fun and easy way to paint on just about anything. The cost is $25 per person, which includes all supplies.
