Trinity High School to graduate 278
Trinity High School will graduate 278 seniors at its commencement exercises at 6:15 p.m. Friday on the high school lawn.
Valedictorians are Casey Attenberger, Sydney Dydiw, Emily Horne, Alexa Kostyak, Harrison Lawson and Abigail Maloy. Salutatorian is Caylee Sams and honor graduate is Zachary Harris.
Attenberger is a daughter of David and Wendy Attenberger. Among her awards are the State University of New York Honors and Academic Scholarship and the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award. Her activities included secretary of the National Honor Society, treasurer of the Spanish Honor Society and Gym Dandys competitive gymnastics. She will attend SUNY Brockport in the honors college to major in biology and psychology and will compete in gymnastics.
Dydiw is a daughter of Terri and Dennis Dydiw. She received the Jefferson Award for Public Service and the Challenge Program Community Service and STEM awards, among others, and a freshman scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh. Her activities included SADD co-president, literary journal editor and Pulsar Search Collaborative leader. She will attend the University of Pittsburgh to major in bioengineering.
Horne is a daughter of Roger and Judith Horne. She received the Challenge Program award for Academic Excellence and the Prudential Insurance Humanitarian Award. Her activities included chorus and chamber choir. She will atend Kent State University, where she received the trustee, president’s and university scholarships, to study fashion merchandising.
Kostyak is a daughter of Shawn and Denise Kostyak. She received numerous scholarships, including the Washington & Jefferson College Presidential Scholarship. She was president of the Spanish Honor Society and tutored in Spanish and chemistry. She will attend Washington & Jefferson College to major in chemistry with a concentration in pre-medicine and minor in Spanish.
Lawson is a son of Douglas and Renee Lawson. His awards included the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete award and the Analytical Accomplice Award. He was captain of the cross country and outdoor track teams and a math tutor. He will attend the University of Pittsburgh to pursue a math and engineering degree.
Maloy is a daughter of Timothy and Laura Maloy. She received the Washington Rotary Club Academic Award and an academic scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh. Her activities included the girls volleyball team, French Honor Society and World Language Club. She will attend the University of Pittsburgh to major in pre-medicine.
Sams is a daughter of Gary and Cathy Sams. Among her awards are the U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award and the Italian-American Cultural and Heritage Society Award. She was captain of the volleyball team, co-president of SADD and student body treasurer. Sams will attend the University of Pittsburgh and major in pharmacy.
Harris is a son of Brenda and Joseph Harris. He was a National Merit Commended Student and received the U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award. He was a member of the boys soccer and volleyball teams, treasurer of the National Honor Society and a member of the high school musical cast. He plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh to major in civil/environmental engineering.
