Bridge work planned

1 min read

The Washington County commissioners this week approved an easement for a bridge project in the city and awarded a construction contract for another bridge in Cross Creek Township.

At the request of the planning commission, the board approved a deed of easement with Community Action Southwest for a temporary right-of-way to construct Chartiers Creek Bridge No. 61 on South Wade Avenue. Community Action will be paid $500.

The Clark Avenue bridge in Cross Creek Township near the municipal building and senior citizens center will be replaced at a cost of $231,725 under the terms of a contract with Lone Pine Construction Inc. of Bentleyville.

The County Planning Commission received $100,000 from the Local Share of gambling revenues from The Meadows Racetrack & Casino for the project, and the remainder will be paid for from the Act 13 Impact Fee on Marcellus Shale natural gas proceeds.
