Abby Severyn, honor graduate

Canon-McMillan High School will graduate 351 students at its commencement exercises at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Canonsburg Memorial Stadium.

Valedictorian is Hunter Lawrence, salutatorian is Joshua Centore and honor graduate is Abby Severyn.

Lawrence is the daughter of Keith and Sandy Lawrence.

She was a member of the varsity volleyball team, vice president of the French Honor Society and a member of the National Honor Society, Academic League, Math League, Great Books Club and French Club.

Her awards include being named an AP Scholar and National Merit Finalist. She received the Gordon A. Rich Memorial Foundation Scholarship and the Canonsburg Business and Professional Women’s Club Scholarship.

Lawrence plans to attend the Carnegie Institute of Technology at Carnegie Mellon University to major in engineering.

Centore is the son of Anthony and Jody Centore.

He is an Eagle Scout and and received the Ad Alteri Dei and Pope Pius XII Boy Scout awards. He was named to the distinguished honor roll, attended Keystone Boys State Program and Westinghouse Science Honors Institute, and received the St. Vincent Dean’s Merit Scholarship, the Fred Rogers Scholarship, Central Blood Bank Appreciation Scholarship and the Salandra Funeral Home Scholarship.

He was a member of the National Honor Society, the marching, concert, symphonic and pep bands and Tri-M Music Honor Society.

He plans to attend St. Vincent College to major in biochemistry and then attend medical school.

Severyn is the daughter of Brad and Mikie Severyn.

She is an AP Scholar and a Commended Merit Scholar and received the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar-Athlete Award. She received the Schreyer Honors College Academic Excellence Scholarship, College of Engineering Scholarship and Prem Sharma Memorial Scholarship.

Her activities included National Honor Society, treasurer of the French Honor Society and Ski Club, Student Council, French Club, Lead CM and Math League.

She plans to attend Penn State University and major in civil engineering.
