Trucker accused of driving wrong way on I-70

1 min read

A truck driver was charged by state police with careless driving and driving the wrong way after police say she was found Sunday night going the wrong direction on Interstate 70 near the Murtland Avenue interchange in South Strabane Township.

Tonya Fife, 51, of Lewiston, Utah, told state police she was following her global-positioning system when she ended up going east on I-70 westbound just before 11 p.m.

South Strabane police assisted by blocking traffic on the highway and the ramp to the interstate from Route 19 north until state police could get her rig off the interstate.

It was not clear how she got on the highway going the wrong way.

The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
