Fugitive arrested on DUI charge: Canonsburg police charged a Raleigh, N.C., man wanted on a fugitive warrant from his home state with drunken driving and false identification following a traffic stop about 1 a.m. Friday. Police said they stopped Maurice Jefferson, 38, on Dawson Street and later learned he was wanted in North Carolina. He was arraigned by District Judge Mark Wilson and is being held without bond in Washington County jail.

Ladder stolen: Louis G. Vasquez, 52, was charged with theft and receiving stolen property after Charleroi Regional police said he stole a $200 ladder from Charleroi Paint & Glass at 624 Fallowfield Ave. on May 21. District Judge Larry Hopkins arraigned Vasquez, who was taken to Washington County jail on $50,000 bond.

Woman assaulted: Southwest Regional police are investigating the assault of a woman at the park-and-ride lot on Route 88 in Union Township about 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Witnesses told police they saw two men wearing hats assaulting a woman before the men left in a dark truck. Police said they were not able to locate the woman, who reportedly left the area in a gray van. Anyone with information is asked to call Southwest Regional police at 724-929-8484.
