Independence man charged for dispute
An Independence Township man was charged Wednesday by McDonald police with making terroristic threats and disorderly conduct stemming from an apparent ongoing dispute with a neighbor who also faces charges.
David John Was, 50, of 114 Meadowcroft Road, Independence, is accused of threatening to shoot Joseph A. Miller if the other man came onto his property during an April 19 dispute.
Police initially were called for a dog complaint. Miller told police Was threatened him over the dog being on his property and threatened to shoot Miller if he came on his property.
Miller’s wife told police she heard the threat, but Was denied it.
The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
Miller, 51, of 112 Meadowcroft, was arraigned last week before Ward on charges of terroristic threats and harassment after he allegedly threatened last month to throw a Molotov cocktail at Was’ home while Was and his family were sleeping. Miller is free on $25,000 unsecured bond with orders not to have contact with Was or his family.
Both men are scheduled for hearings before Ward. Miller’s is set for June 24, while Was’ is scheduled for July 16.
