Man sentenced for indecent assault
WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man who pleaded guilty in December to a reduced charge of indecent assault was sentenced Monday by Greene County Judge Farley Toothman to 11 ½ and 23 ½ months in jail.
Johnie Lorenzo Carter, 30, of 311 Tollgate Run Road, was arrested last February on charges he sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13 in Franklin Township between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2011.
Carter pleaded guilty in December to indecent assault. Charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and sexual assault were withdrawn by the prosecution.
An evaluation determined Carter did not meet the criteria of a sexually violent offender.
However, he is required to register his address with police for the rest of his life, according to the sentencing order. The order also indicates Carter was sentenced in the aggravated range in light of charges that were withdrawn against him.
In addition to the jail time, Carter was ordered to pay $300 in fines and perform 125 hours of community service.
