Police: Deaths of two in Fayette probed as murder-suicide

1 min read

SMITHFIELD (AP) – Authorities say a man apparently shot his girlfriend to death before turning the weapon on himself in a mobile home in southwestern Pennsylvania over the weekend.

State police in Fayette County say the gunfire happened sometime between 3 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Saturday in Georges Township.

Coroner Phillip Reilly said 19-year-old Leah Fields and 29-year-old James Dice Jr. were both pronounced dead at the scene in Dice’s mobile home.

Trooper James Garlick said the Smithfield couple had been dating and there had been no known incidents between them before the apparent murder-suicide.

He said authorities believe Dice shot Fields and then some time passed before he then killed himself.

Police are investigating and ask anyone with information about the case to call them.
