Police beat June 22
Crash: A car being driven in the eastbound lane of I-70 by Gary Smith, 37, of Triadelphia, W.Va., hit a metal object in the road June 11 and it bounced into the left lane, where the object hit vehicles being driven by Jennifer Owens, 40, of Patriot, Ohio, and Dorothy Wisner, 48, of Hampstead, Md., police said. Wisner’s vehicle was towed from the scene due to heavy undercarriage damage. No one was injured.
Theft: Pennsylvania State Police recovered 14 tombstones of veterans going back to the Spanish-American War Thursday on Ziskind Road. The markers are believed to be from Washington County. Anyone who is aware of disturbed gravesites should contact state police at 724-223-5200.
Theft: On Friday, someone stole three copper welding leads from Brian Hrutkay, 41, of 52 Hetherington Dr., police said.
Aggravated assault: Deonna Levers, 30, of Bentleyville, was found in her vehicle Thursday with a wound to her upper left thigh, and a cut to her right finger, police said. Levers was with her husband, Josh Levers, and the couple told police they had been married that day in Marianna and were in a confrontation shortly thereafter with someone they knew. Deonna Levers refused to speak to police about her injuries. Josh Levers said the argument took place in Marianna, but he did not know how his wife was injured. An investigation is ongoing.
