Third well capped in Dunkard Township

1 min read

The third gas well at the Chevron gas well pad in Dunkard Township in Greene County where an explosion killed a worker and injured another has been secured.

A new well head was installed Saturday on the well, said Scott Perry, deputy secretary for the state Department of Environmental Protection. The well, designated as 8H, was not leaking but had been monitored.

The two other wells on the pad affected by the explosion, 7H and 6H, were successfully capped earlier last week.

The Feb. 11 explosion killed Ian McKee, 27, a native of Warren. He was a field representative for Cameron International.

Monitoring of the air quality continues at the site.
