Comcast will continue Internet Essentials indefinitely

1 min read

Comcast announced Tuesday that the company will continue to offer its Internet Essentials program indefinitely.

Internet Essentials is a national broadband adoption program for low-income families, which offers low-cost broadband for $9.95 a month plus tax, the option to purchase an Interenet-ready computer for under $150 and provides multiple options to access free digital literacy training in print, online and in person. Eligible families must have at least one child eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program.

Initially, the company made a three-year commitment to the program. So far, the program has connected 300,000 families to broadband Internet at their homes.

In addition to extending Internet Essentials, Comcast will also provide more than $1 million in grants to dozens of nonprofit organizations across the county to create Internet Essential Learning Zones. For more information or to apply for the program, visit www.InternetEssentials.com or call 1-855-846-8376.
