Corbett says work ongoing on liquor privatization
HARRISBURG (AP) – Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett said he’s still working on a plan to change the state’s system of liquor stores but isn’t giving any new information about what might eventually be enacted.
Corbett addressed the topic at a news conference in Harrisburg Tuesday, after announcing a new designation for veterans on Pennsylvania driver’s licenses.
Corbett said “there is a lot of discussion going on” regarding the liquor stores that the public doesn’t know about.
He said he’s also pursuing changes to the state’s two large public-sector pension plans because they require significant state revenue support.
Corbett fought for liquor privatization and pension changes during last year’s budget negotiations, but wasn’t able to get them through the Legislature.
