Several fire departments responded to the scene of a structure fire Tuesday night along Old York Road in North Franklin Township.

According to North Franklin fire Chief Dave Bane, a wood shop at 97 1/2 Old York Road caught fire shortly after 8 p.m.

Bane said the property owner was melting wax in a pot, and stepped away. When he returned, Bane said the pot was on fire.

No injuries were reported. North Franklin, South Strabane and South Franklin township fire departments responded.

Bane said the structure sustained roughly $10,000 in smoke and fire damage.

Property owner Sam Bonus, who lives at 97 Old York Road, said he was melting the wax to coat cutting boards that he makes. Bonus said he left to get a cup of coffee from his home, and when he returned, the pot was on fire.

Bonus said the building was insured.
