Bank information stolen: The operators of Brownlee Trucking, 5035 Jefferson Ave., Independence, told state police Friday their bank account and routing information were produced on checks by someone placing an ad on Craigslist for a personal assistant. The thief would then send a check to the person who responded, asking them to cash the checks, keep some of the money and then use the rest to buy children’s toys. The people who responded to the ad were then directed to send the toys back to the alleged thief. State police are investigating.
