Carmichaels Women’s Civic Club announces winners
CARMICHAELS – The Carmichaels Women’s Civic Club recently recognized the winners of the 2014 “Basketful of Arts” contest at its February meeting. This contest was open to students in the Carmichaels Area School District.
The winners are as follows:
• Art, first place – Grades 1-3, Arianna Rahbar; grades 4-6, Sarah Donaldson; grades 7-9, Kylie Shelby; and grades 10-12, Kenzie Blasinsky.
• Art, second place – Grades 1-3, Sebastian Kachersky; grades 4-6, Abigail Fordyce; grades 7-9, Landen Watters; and grades 10-12. Journie Cutchman.
• Art, third place – Grades 1-3, Mattison Brown; grades 4-6, Logan Campbell; grades 7-9, Katie Conley; and grades 10-12, Victoria Russian.
• Short story, first place – Grades 6-8, Kylie Sinn.
• Short story, second place – Grades 6-8, Katelyn Sinn.
Each winner received a certificate, ribbon and a monetary prize. All first-place entries advanced to the district level competition in Butler and were judged March 7.
The following student entries were awarded first place: Sarah Donaldson, Kylie Shelby and Kylie Sinn. These three entries will advance to the state level competition to be judged in May.
