Columbia Gas plans upgrade

2 min read

North Franklin Township will be part of Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania’s infrastructure replacement program. The project is one of 24 planned locally for 2014, representing a $22 million investment in Washington County’s natural gas infrastructure this year.

More than 8,100 feet of natural gas main line will be upgraded during the project as Columbia replaces existing steel pipe with plastic pipe. The project is expected to last through the summer. About 110 customers along Park Avenue, Ramsey Road, Driftwood Drive, Grimm Road, Edwards Avenue, Walker Lane and Tarbuck Lane will experience temporary service interruption as those customers are connected to the new gas main.

Construction will take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with temporary lane closures during working hours only.

Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania will make personal contact with customers prior to service interruption and to schedule service restoration. This work will be done at no additional cost to the customer.

As a reminder, all Columbia employees and contractors carry identification cards bearing their name, photograph and identification number.

A public meeting on the project will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the North Franklin Township municipal building, 620 Franklin Farms Road.
