A Chartiers Township man died Monday afternoon from injuries he suffered when he fell 18 feet through the roof of a building.

Rea D. Jones, 59, was pronounced dead about 2 p.m. at Monongahela Valley Hospital, according to a report from Washington County Coroner Tim Warco.

Jones reportedly was repairing the vacant building he owned in the 100 block of Wilson Road in Bentleyville when he fell through the roof and landed on the concrete floor. Two contractors were helping to repair the structure, and it was unclear Monday if they were injured.

Jones was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead from multiple injuries, according to Warco.

State police in Belle Vernon are investigating the accident.
