Hopefuls file for committee slots

Democrats and Republicans who go to the polls in the May 20 primary will have an opportunity to elect members of their respective state committees.

In Washington County, Democrats will elect two women and two men plus the next highest vote-getter of either gender. Those who filed nominating petitions with the Pennsylvania Department of State in Harrisburg before the Tuesday deadline were:

Alan Benyak of Carroll Township, Clifton L. Cochran of Washington, Charles A. Crouse of East Washington, Nancy J. Ellis of Charleroi, Madeline Finney of Bentleyville, Judith L. Fisher of South Strabane Township, Robert E. Fisher of South Strabane and George W. Vitteck Jr. of Canton Township.

On the Republican ticket, primary voters will choose two women and two men. Filing were:

Karianne D.P. Bilsky of Canonsburg, Timothy P. Bilsky of Canonsburg, Jeffrey K. Foutz of South Strabane Township, Jenny C. Foutz of South Strabane, Eric Steve Rouillard of Peters Township, Sonia M. Stopperich of North Strabane Township and Thomas Joseph Uram of North Strabane Township.

In Greene County, voters from the major parties will each elect a single candidate.

David Coder of Franklin Township was the lone Democrat who filed. On the GOP ticket, three candidates filed petitions: Elizabeth McClure of Franklin Township, James A. Minor of Monongahela Township and John Shaffer III of Jefferson Township.
