Police beat Mar. 13
Warrant arrest: Joshua Butts, 25, of 425 Valley View Terrace, faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia after Canonsburg police found more than 400 empty stamp bags while taking him into custody on a bench warrant Tuesday at his home. Police also found a needle in his pocket.
Paraphernalia, marijuana charges: Daniel W. Buretz, 53, of 14 E. Water St., Canonsburg, will be charged by Canonsburg police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia after officers found the items while responding to a domestic disturbance Tuesday night. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Paraphernalia charge: Andrew B. Crowley, 26, of Hickory, will be charged by state police with possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from a traffic stop Monday on Cortez Drive, Canton. Police said he had 15 empty stamp bags and two stamp bags of suspected heroin. He also reportedly had a crack pipe. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
House burglarized: An elderly Cross Creek man told state police his home on Peterson Street, Cross Creek, was burglarized Monday morning. Stolen were coins, knife, lighter and Nintendo video game system.
Husband arrested: Robert Lewis Lawrence, 42, of 398 Cooke Road, Avella, was arrested March 6 by state police for allegedly assaulting his wife, Heather Lawrence, at Sputzy’s Bar, Campbell Street, Independence. The couple reportedly got into an argument that turned physical when he slapped her in the face and punched her in the stomach. He told police that she fell leaving the bar. Lawrence was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was released on $20,000 unsecured bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled before District Judge Ethan Ward.
DUI charge: Morgan Marian Moscarillo, 23, of 350 Duncan Ave., Washington, was charged Monday by North Franklin police with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a crash and careless driving stemming from a March 4 crash in front of 20 McElree Road. Police found her staggering on the road, bleeding from the hand. Her blood alcohol content was almost double the 0.08 limit presumed for intoxication. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Warrant arrest: William P. Hickman, 36, of 118 Hidden Valley Road, McMurray, was arrested on a fugitive warrant during a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon by North Strabane police on Route 19 near Water Street. Police stopped him for speeding and determined he is wanted for failure to appear on a drunk driving charge in Montgomery County, Md. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond.
Charged in crash: Kathe M. Dollish, 59, of 20 McBride Road, North Strabane, was charged Monday by North Strabane police with DUI stemming from a Jan. 10 crash. She went off Johnson road near Trotwood Drive and hit a light pole at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino. Her BAC was almost three times the 0.08 limit presumed for intoxication. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Juvenile charged: A 17-year-old boy from Canonsburg involved in a two-car accident at 4:39 p.m. Monday will be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, township police said. A juvenile allegation will be filed against the boy, whose name was not released because of his age. Police responded to the crash on Washington Road. The teen handed police a bag with suspected marijuana, a pipe with suspected marijuana and a grinder, police said. There were no injuries.
Two injured: Debbie J. Berkich, 57, of 331 Waterdam Road, McMurray, and her passenger, Larry Berkich, 66, also of McMurray, were injured Tuesday morning when their vehicle was hit from behind on Route 19 near Oak Spring Road, by a vehicle driven by Makayla N. Miller, 25, of 608 E. Finley Drive, West Finley, South Strabane police said.
Escape charge: Chaz A. Selinsky, 20, of 161 Kevech Road, Monongahela, was charged with escape after he failed to return to Washington County jail from a work release in October, according to jail officials. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Drug charges: Tiffany Ryan, 28, address unknown, was charged with two counts of intent to deliver or manufacture drugs and one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after she allegedly sold crack cocaine to an undercover officer during a controlled purchase, state police said. Ryan was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Robert Redlinger. She was released on an unsecured bond.
Damaged equipment: A piece of playground equipment and a plastic shed located at 1101 Michigan Ave. were damaged Tuesday, city police said. There are no suspects.
Theft: A birth certificate and a change-of-address card were reported missing from a home in the 100 block of North Main Street Tuesday, city police said.
