Area woman faces charges for allegedly ramming car

2 min read

A Bulger woman faces several charges after being accused of deliberately ramming her car into a vehicle owned by her ex-boyfriend, knocking it into a neighbor’s car.

Jennifer Susan Champion, 30, of 73 Bulger Block Road, faces charges of criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid and several traffic violations stemming from the March 9 crash.

McDonald police were called to 209 Arabella St. for a report of a hit-and-run crash.

Jeffrey Tkach, Champion’s former boyfriend, told police the two of them had gotten into an argument because she was reportedly late picking up her children. During the argument, Tkach told police that he noticed an odor of alcohol coming from Champion and believed she was intoxicated, so he removed the children from the vehicle.

Champion placed her car in reverse, giving herself room between her car and Tkach’s vehicle, police said. She then allegedly placed her car in drive and accelerated forward, hitting Tkach’s vehicle, according to the report.

Caitlin Belcher, who lives at 208 Arabella, told police that she told Champion to stop because she was concerned that her vehicle would be struck. Champion reportedly told Belcher to shut up before striking Tkach’s vehicle a second time, forcing it into Belcher’s vehicle. She struck Tkach’s vehicle a third time before fleeing the scene, police said.

Police found gold bumper on the ground next to Tkach’s vehicle.

When police talked with Champion later that night, the officer asked if she intentionally crashed her car into Tkach’s vehicle. Police said she smiled and said, “no.” Police later found her car in the parking lot of a bar on Route 30 in Clinton. The car was missing the front bumper and had heavy damage to the front end.

Tkach’s vehicle sustained heavy damage and had to be towed. Belcher’s car had moderate damage to the rear bumper and trunk.

The charges will be sent by summons from the office of Senior District Judge Jay Dutton.
