DAR honors four high school seniors
The John Corbly Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored four high school seniors with Good Citizen awards March 1.
Recognized at a luncheon at the Chuck Wagon Café were Jenna Henry of Waynesburg Central High School; Karley Isiminger of West Greene High School; Micah Stanko of Jefferson-Morgan High School; and Douglas Kowalewski of Carmichaels Area High School.
The students were chosen for dependability, service, leadership and patriotism as exhibited in their community and school activities. All received a DAR certificate, wallet card and pin.
Henry, daughter of Jamie and Cherie Henry of Waynesburg, is a member of the National Honor Society, Youth Alive, president of FFA, varsity club, SADD and the 4-H Market Lamb Club.
Isiminger, daughter of Randy and Tammy Isiminger of Holbrook, is class president, president of student government, a member of the National Honor Society, captain of the varsity cheerleader squad, and a member of the drama club and science club.
She also received the Consol Energy Community Award, is a Bible school teacher and a member of the church worship team.
Stanko, son of Steve and Lenora Stanko of Clarksville, is a member of the art club, drama club, Leo club, Envirothon, is captain of the soccer team, participates in basketball, and track and field, and volunteers for Habitat for Humanity.
Kowalewski, son of Robert and Rita Kowalewski of Crucible, is president of the National Honor Society, is a member of student council, Envirothon, chemistry club, marching, concert and pep bands, captain of the Academic League and editor of the school newspaper.
The winners and their parents were welcomed by Regent Shelvajean Baysinger and Good Citizen chairwoman Dena Shultz.
