Police: Neighbor euthanized dying man’s stolen dog

1 min read

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Police said a woman charged with stealing a dying man’s dog hired a veterinarian to euthanize the pet several months after its disappearance.

Pittsburgh police Officer Christine Luffey said Thursday that after getting several tips regarding Thor, the Siberian Husky who disappeared Thanksgiving Day, she confirmed that a veterinarian euthanized the dog Feb. 10 in the home of Gisele Paris.

Paris is accused of stealing Thor from the back yard of Mark Boehler, who is diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer.

Prosecutors said Paris will likely be charged with animal cruelty because authorities believe she had malicious intent in having Thor euthanized.

Investigators said the veterinarian acted responsibly and will not be charged.
