Community Connections Fair sponsored by CAS
Community Action Southwest and Washington High School are partnering to host a Community Connections Fair Monday at the high school.
CAS said in a news release that 19 local organizations will be available to provide students and community members with information regarding health and education resources available to the community, including information on postsecondary schools and student loans, job training programs, adult education and health and wellness programs.
Affordable Care Act certified application counselors will also be present to provide information and assistance regarding the new health care law.
Students will attend the event from noon to 3 p.m. It will be open to the public from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Washington High School gymnasium, 201 Allison Ave.
The Community Connections Fair is part of Community Action Southwest’s Postsecondary Transitions Program funded in part by United Way of Washington County. The program is designed to assist area residents to find the right postsecondary education opportunity, to complete scholarship and financial aid paperwork and to build strong community relationships with educational institutions to help as many lower-income individuals to obtain postsecondary degrees and certificates.
