Washington fires member of street crew
Amember of Washington’s street department was fired Wednesday for violating a last-chance employment agreement.
City Council didn’t give any other reason at the special meeting for firing Joe Proia, who has worked for the city for 12 years.
Proia, who could not be reached Friday, was criticized two years ago by council and accused of making nearly 2,000 calls on a city-owned cellphone over a five-month period.
